what to pack

Backpacks & Suitcases

For backpacking trips, the ULTIMATE bag: Osprey

This bag is incredibly good quality and will survive for years! It's definitely a worthwhile investment if you're planning backpacking adventures.

We know airlines can be tricky with luggage restrictions. This backpack actually comes as TWO bags. One is 40L and one is 10L. One of the main reasons I love this backpack is that technically the 40L bag is a suitable size for hand luggage, and the detachable 10L day bag can be used as your 'personal item'!

If you're more of a suitcase individual, then I highly recommend the Tripp brand luggage sets. Hard shell so all your belongings are protected, four wheels so it's super easy to move, and the actual case doesn't weigh too much so you can make the most of your weight limit!

Packing cubes

Instead of having all your clothes and items jumbled together in your suitcase, packing cubes allow you to compartmentalise and categorise your things. This makes it easy to find what you need without rummaging through your entire backpack or suitcase.

These packing cubes from Amazon as they have a double zip system so you can fit hundreds of clothes in without worrying about the zipper breaking!

They are a must-have for all backpackers and organised travellers!

Accessories

  • Portable charger

Never run out of battery on-the-go again - definitely needed for all long trips. The INIU Power Bank is one of my favourites as the charge lasts for hours and it’s very lightweight and compact.

  • Flight socks

Nobody wants deep vein thrombosis (DVT)! These socks are designed to improve circulation and reduce swelling in your legs and feet, so you’re ready to explore as soon as you arrive in your new destination!

  • Waterproof bag

Never worry about water damage to your belongings again. Perfect for protecting all your camera gear / technology when you’re adventuring outdoors, visiting the beach, hiking in the rain or travelling on water!

  • Air pump

An absolute necessity for campers with inflatable beds, but also SO amazing for any beach holidays with inflatables! I took this tiny machine and attached it to my backpack, I used it to inflate my inflatable ring for beach days in Australia!

  • Neck pillow

I found this super comfy inflatable neck pillow which really made long haul flights more comfortable. I prefer inflatable neck pillows as they don’t take up much room in your carry-on luggage.

  • Travel Clothes Wash

This cheap and cheerful clothes wash is great for long-term travellers, letting you freshen up your clothes on-the-go without needing an actual washing machine!
